Episode 15 with Cam Stevens argues that safety technology should begin with a clearly defined work problem, because a catalog of tools can obscure psychosocial risk instead of reducing it.
Decision fatigue is not only a productivity problem. In safety-critical work, repeated choices can make shortcuts feel reasonable, weaken challenge, and hide control drift. This diagnostic explains five distortions that affect safe behavior and gives leaders a practical way to redesign the work around better decisions.
Psychosocial risk appetite is the governance boundary between recognizing a work-design hazard and accepting continued exposure. This explainer separates four thresholds that help HR, EHS, and operations leaders decide when to monitor, act, escalate, or stop a condition.
Overtime approval is a safety decision when fatigue can change attention, reaction time, judgment, and the quality of a control check. This eight-step guide helps supervisors assess recovery capacity before adding hours to a shift, without turning a sensitive conversation into a medical diagnosis.
Safety governance is the structure that turns risk appetite into accountable decisions, verified controls, and timely escalation across the organization.
A maintenance window should not open because a permit is signed. This practical guide shows EHS managers, maintenance leaders, and supervisors how to confirm that each critical control has an owner, current evidence, and a clear response before work begins.
Clive Lloyd's Episode 12 argument is that safety leaders should measure the distance between declared culture and lived climate through trust, response, and decision evidence.
A leadership vacuum appears when people see risk but cannot identify who decides, supports escalation, or verifies the fix. Four questions test whether safety ownership is real.
The DuPont 24 Elements model helps safety leaders test whether culture is visible in decisions, field routines, accountability, and learning rather than only in policy.
Build a 30-day psychosocial risk escalation workflow that gives plant leaders clear owners, response rules, protected conversations, and field verification.
